Canyoneering in Arches National Park

Dave and I went canyoneering inside Arches National Park the day after our mountain bike adventure up to Burro Pass. The route up to E.B. requires a little scrambling, climbing, and rappelling, and has a rating of 3A III. After about 1.5 hours of doing the aforementioned, we got to the top of the highest point in the park, ate the one cliff bar that we had (split in two), and signed the guest book. Dave showed me a few pages of his many ascents up to the special high point.

Canyoneering in Zion

Headed up to Zion tomorrow (Wed, 8/22) for some canyoneering, then over to Las Vegas to see the family. I decided not to go to Flagstaff for the Old-Fashion Race this weekend. Here is the plan for this weekend in Zion:

1. half day canyon on Thurs, Spry or Pine Creek
2. full day Englestead
3. a good canyon for Saturday. Maybe Fat Man's with some extra hours in
the pot hole section to practice.

Zion National Park

We did 2 new canyons: Fat Man's Misery and Das Boot, then we had to run to LV to see the fam, so we cranked out Keyhole in about one hour. Here are the pictures from the trip:

Zion National Park

Tomorrow I am leaving to go north. I am meeting a friend in Flagstaff to do some technical stuff in and around Elden. Then I am off to the North Rim to do Rainbow Rim Trail while camping in the Locust Campground.

In Zion, the plan is to do Fat Man's Misery, Kolob (if there is a good amount of water being released), and Oak Creek. Here is an old picture I found of me doing Imlay. You can see the Narrows in the background.

We headed up for a quick canyoneering trip at The Jug this past Wednesday. I was a little late for work since we were in the canyon for a few hours longer than we thought.

7 Cataracts Canyoneering

We canyoneered 7 Cataracts on Mt Lemon this past weekend. Here are a few shots from the trip.

La Milagrosa/Agua Caliente Canyoneering Trip

Steve, Kacy and I backpacked up to La Milagrosa in the Catalinas (near Reddington Pass Road) to do some canyoneering. It was a quick canyon, about 6 hours for the entire trip.
