Picketpost Loop Day 2

Last Full Moon of the Decade

Nice design and work, Rob B!

Overflow on the backside

We then opted to take Arnett Canyon off of FR 4 back around to Picketpost. This is not for the faint-hard, non-adventurous type. There is about 1/4 mile of bushwacking/HABing.

We got back to the car at 1pm so I opted to summit Picketpost before I left since I had never climbed to the top before. Jogged to the base and enjoyed the views at the top.

Thank you, Jeff and Nancy for the great weekend! If you need the route, check the Arizona Endurance Picketpost B route GPX file here.

Aravaipa Circumnavigation Day 1

Lee, Scott and I started out from Mammoth, AZ with the goal of riding around Aravaipa. They yearly (or bi-yearly?) bikepacking trip has been failing recently, so last Spring we tried to do it again. Easily the best trip of the year with new-to-me areas.

Your guess is as good as mine....thinking water tank?

Gotta have the Scott pointing photo

Picketpost Loop Day 1

I am a sucker for Martinez Canyon and Rincon Road this time of year (or anytime of year where there is some rain). I phoned Jeff and Nancy a week ago and asked them if they wanted to ride around the Gila area for 1-2 nights. They opted for 1 night since grades were due (for Nancy and I actually).

We did the Picketpost Loop on the AES website and added in some Arnett Canyon, which I rode 2 years ago here. There has been some work since then on the canyon, although it is still in so-so shape given the equestrian use. Either way, I love this area.

That said, here is Day 1 in photos.

Signs for motos and jeepers abound in this area now

Paria-Hackberry 3-Day Backpacking Loop

Scott and I met up in southern Arizona for a 3-day backing loop in early October. As usual, Scott did most of the original investigation to get me hooked on researching the loop. We both drove in from our respective corners of the world and got out into the country. Exploration and new-never-seen-to-us-canyons were the impetus of the trip.

It is truly a remarkable area as you can see from the pictures.
